In 2012 Insight Data reported on the growth of trade-counter networks. Today, it’s the fastest growing sector, and there’s a whole new market to sell to.
Trade counters aren’t anything new. Some go back over 25 years – distributors buying-in frames from a trade fabricator and supplying jobbing builders and window fitters on ‘weekenders’. But over the last 5 years this sector has exploded with both distributors and fabricators now targeting the huge potential of ‘white van man’ and general builders, as well as traditional installers.
“Builders represent a big growth market for suppliers” explains Jade Greenhow, Insight Data’s operations manager. “They now have access to all the latest products and support from a growing network of trade-counters, and can offer homeowners a complete package from windows and doors, a home-extension or solid-roof conservatory, through to fascias and soffits and garage conversions.”
Insight Data has developed the only comprehensive database of general builders in the UK, with 22,000 firms with named contacts, type of projects they work on, and 13,500 verified email addresses – by far the largest email database of builders.
“Most companies use the database to sell directly, but more and more are using it to promote their products and brands to general builders and ‘pull’ enquiries through to their customer network, often trade-counters. It’s a powerful way to generate millions of pounds in new business” adds Jade.
