Insight Data, the market research and data specialists, has revealed the UK’s Top 30 PVCU fabricators with a combined turnover of almost £1billion.

Insight Data Managing Director Andrew Scott said; “This really shows the scale and dynamics of our industry, when just 30 of the industry’s 15,000 companies have a combined turnover of £971 million.”

The Top 30 Fabricators increased turnover by a whopping £55million in 2014 compared to the previous year, even after a £47m reduction in turnover by Everest following an internal restructure and realignment.

Entry level to the Billionaires Club was £10.9m turnover in 2013. In 2014 it rose to £12.3m, an increase of 12%.

“Some companies have made the Insight Billionaire Club for the first time, such as Conservatory Outlet, while others have seen spectacular growth in the last year. It is worth noting that a number of high growth fabricators are sitting just outside the Top 30 ready to challenge in 2015” added Andrew.

According to Insight Data, the Top 30 list reflects a significant financial improvement in the fenestration industry and points to continued growth in the sector.

The Insight Top 30 is focused on PVC-U fabricators in the UK. The report assesses information collated from the Insight fabricator and installer database, cross-referenced with financial data provided by a credit reference agency.

Where the company has not disclosed sufficient financial information on their annual returns, they are excluded from the report. The financial data is the publicly available company accounts that represent the latest filed records, available to Insight Data as of January 2015.

Turnover is not necessarily an indication of performance; a domestic/retail fabricator will have a significantly higher turnover compared to a trade fabricator producing the same volume of frames. In addition, some companies offer a wider range of products and services but a financial breakdown of these is not available.

There are some notable exclusions from the report. This includes Epwin Group Companies, Masco UK Window Group and Zenith/Staybrite where due to group structures insufficient information was available to assess individual PVC-U fabricators turnover. It also excludes some companies who manufacture uPVC frames but their primary material may be timber or aluminium, such as Munster Joinery.

Some companies may not appear on the list where expected. For example, Polyframe consists of several trade fabrication companies with a turnover of £28.8m and would therefore appear at No. 6, however, as the report cites a single trading business we only list Polyframe (Trade) Ltd which is £20.3m.
