The latest findings by one of the industry’s foremost providers of data and market intelligence has revealed the meteoric rise of a new category of home improvement provider, the ‘builder installer’.
The 2017 Insight Report published by Insight Data shows the number of local builders who now offer windows, doors and conservatories is almost double that of traditional double-glazing installers buying-in from fabricators or trade counters.
According to the report, there are now almost 16,000 ‘builder installers’ active in the market and is showing no signs of slowing down.
“The home improvement market is changing rapidly with this influx of local builders who now offer windows, doors and even conservatories and extensions,”
comments Jade Greenhow, Insight Data General Manager.
“The rise can really be attributed to the growth of trade counters, providing widespread access to a larger portfolio of products which allows these local builders to actively compete with the established installers and double-glazing companies.”
The report which provides an in-depth analysis of the window, door and conservatory market in the UK also found there are now over 850 trade counters and depots across the country, a 150% increase in just six years.
“Undoubtedly this will be alarming for many building product suppliers who are now looking at the reality of a shrinking client base.”
However, through our continued research to create our reports and offer unrivalled industry prospect data, we have developed a Local Builders database, complete with accurate contact information for over 26,000 general builders, contractors and small building firms, creating the most comprehensive data resource of its kind.”
The data is accessed through Insight Data’s sales and marketing tool Salestracker. Combining an online prospect database, CRM system and email marketing platform, Salestracker offers it users 24/7 access to accurate business information, contact details and credit ratings for over 60,000 potential customers across five key databases.
Along with its Local Builders database, Insight Data also holds information on Architects, House Builders, Main Contractors and firms within the Fenestration and Glazing industries. The information it gathers for Salestracker and its industry reports is updated in real-time using a seven-stage verification process which includes 20,000 research calls every month and a direct feed from a credit reference agency.
Salestracker users include some of the industry’s biggest systems houses, fabricators, component suppliers and sealed unit manufacturers.
